Distant Storage was built out of frustration. Our owner, Heather's frustration, to be exact. After renting one too many dark, dusty, barely functioning short-term storage rentals, she decided enough was enough. Maybe you've experienced that same frustration. Together with her husband, Paul, a proud Roxbury, CT native, and their son, Jackson, the unofficial "mayor of snack quality control," they set out to reinvent self-storage in Connecticut.

Let us set the scene.

There once was a beat-up 1963 Ford F100 pickup called Ole Red. Every year, Heather and her family would decorate Ole Red for each holiday, especially Christmas. It got the whole nine yards — lights, snow machine, speakers, and everything. When the decorations needed a home in between holidays, though, that's when things got weird.

Heather rented a self-storage unit that was so bad it sparked an idea — what if storage didn't have to be miserable, and what if they could fix it?

So, that's what they did. Distinct Storage was born out of a frustrating, dirty, truly miserable customer service experience.
